What a wonderful place! We found this bakery when looking for a dessert place in Capitola. Ended up having a meal 🙂 Great selection of pastries (unfortunately no vegan options) and premade food, bakery items, etc. Make sure you get a number at the door. Nice area to sit and enjoy your meal.

Overall, 4.6 stars (as of Dec, 2024) rating seems to be very reasonable. Good food. Their pastry looks really good and I bet they are good. Their warm food was okay. The grilled chicken was a bit dry, mac and cheese had a somewhat different flavor than what I expected. But none of them are deal breakers

Very busy place but the service is great. Fast at getting everyones orders. Food is delicious. Hard to choose just one item.

I really wanted the ham&cheese croissant but unfortunately they cannot heat it up. I ended up undecided and purchased something else at random. Cinn sugar downturner was good.

Parking in the front is limited and difficult, but their is parking in the rear and on the street.

My family and I have been going to Gayle's Bakery for years upon years and the quality is still excellent in both the bakery and deli. We love the pastries, sandwiches and cakes, everything is delicious. It is a bit pricey, however, but it is worth it for special occasions!

GREAT FOOD, AIN’T CHEAP but everything is top notch. There is a reason why the lines are so long and the place is always packed. It’s all about great tasting, home cooked food. You can taste the butter in all their baked goods. All the salads and baked goods purchased were AMAZING. You owe it to yourself to give it a try!

Simply Delightful! The people working there were mostly young women with some young men. My Grandma loves their rye bread! She bought me the strawberry shortcake cookie because she said it was delicious, and I must agree. Even her dog loved it!

Sadly, Underwhelming - Multiple food cases with a vast variety of sandwiches, salads and sweets. Appearance is pretty but atmosphere reduced due to loud acoustics and a chaotic ordering process (think NY deli ordering). The dedicated "cafe" seating was full (noon lunch time) and I was lucky to find a table in the overflow "dinner" style seating. Staff friendly and worker was nice to me as I ordered. Identified myself as a first timer and she patiently described the cake options to me. All cakes are very eye pleasing and I choose the flourless chocolate cake which was palpable but not that exciting. Perhaps if you are a dedicated flourless eater, it might be wonderful to you.

Overall, I might return here depending on the time and my desire for either lunch or breakfast. Today I was looking for a more quaint experience to sip my coffee, eat a sweet and read my book. I should have choose another place.

I am sure I could enjoy some of the multitude food options and may return for a pickup order and not dine in.

The experience was absolutely delightful! Although the wait was a bit long, the food made it completely worth it. The pot pie we ate the next day had a delicious, buttery crust that was simply amazing, and the caprese sandwich we savored at Gayles was absolutely mouthwatering. The tomatoes in the sandwich were bursting with flavor, making each bite incredibly satisfying. We indulged in several desserts, but the cookies and eclairs were definite standouts. I highly recommend visiting Gayles for a fantastic meal.
