EDIT: We gave Fernwood another shot last weekend for Passport Month and we were glad we did. Last time the tasting was in a small room on the right side of the road. It was a rainy day and the room was very hot and muggy. Now they have opened a new tasting room on the left side of the road. The weather this time was perfect and the room was much more comfortable. We enjoyed the wines a lot more this time. We even bought a bottle partly because Fernwood offered special pricing for Passport holders. I wish more wineries did this.

There is a beautiful little creek running alongside the tasting room along with some great outdoor seating areas and a spot to play Bacci Ball or Cornhole.

Small tasting room. Kind of hard to get to. Decent wines but nothing we were interested in buying. Friendly staff.

Fernwood Cellars is a must for all. 6 generations that all take joy in sharing their legacy through wine and food . There is a wonderful saying; “ BEAUTY WILL SAVE THE WORLD “ Fernwood is beauty personified.. It’s a must!!!

Ok so i Finally brought my first tour to Fernwood it was 21 people on a 50th birthday party .
They were a very fun bunch of couples they not only had us all set up but The hospitality was second to no other winery the ladies treated us like royalty they were organised and fantastic. Tiffany promised a great time and that is just what we had.I will make that drive to the end of redwood retreat for a visit at Fernwood and a stop at Martin Ranch two great wineries any time they are open.

We found Fernwood one day while just out doing a fly by the seat of our pants wine tasting day. While leaving a winery just down the street we saw the sign for Fernwood, so we went. Ww were ever so happy we did!

At pretty much the last possible stop on a small road you will find a little slice of heaven. Membership in the wine club became a must after the very first taste.

Hidden between Gilroy and Morgan Hill this winery is a hidden treasure. The Santa Cruz Mountains and redwood trees surround the area and make for a great visit and drive. It's at the very end of Redwood Retreat Road....so don't stop until it ends and you'll see the signs.

Inside the tasting room the staff was really friendly and the wine maker (Matt) was also present answering questions for wine snobs like myself. If you get a chance he is great to talk to about all things wine. The wines themselves are ALL very, very good. Having a preference for reds I would have to say my favs are the Cab and his rhone style blends. However, the Chardonnay is actually a big favorite of mine and I don't crave only but a few and this is one of them.

Among all the local wineries I really enjoy both the environment and attention to detail Matt puts into his craft. I am happy to be a wine club member now and love the spring and summer events. I can't say enough about the overall experience -- it's a must for any wine lover.
