Could not find fresh veal shanks for osso bucco anywhere local. Found them online. Super fresh and great prices. Fantastic service. Worth the long drive from North County.

The two stars are for these reasons:
1) Poor customer service. Unfriendly, not nice to everyone.
2) High prices for most items.
3) Some items are not fresh; some are frozen like chicken and lamb.
4) If you ask for a few pounds of meat they'll sell you double or more, not exactly what you need.
5) The receipt doesn't show exactly what you have purchased, e.g., the type of the item and name.
6) The store is very small and not clean.
7) Parking is bad and small.
8) They're not always following the COVID-19 guidelines, like wearing masks and social distancing.

I think 2 stars is very fair.

This market has the freshest meat ever. Sometimes they receive the meat and sell it all in one day. The prices are super affordable. Also, the owner is friendly and gives great service.

University halal market is the place u come to get ur fresh usda beef veal goat and lamb in the San Diego area. Fresh quality meat comes in every week and Abu is always there with a smile and his great customer service to serve ur needs. He also has halal chicken plus fresh ground beef from his weekly beef orders. I guarantee u will be satisfied!

The people selling the goat meat are not honest, if you don't speak their language. They give you less meat than what you paid for. Or while they cut the meat in the back room they mix old pieces from the meat you picked. The place could be a little cleaner

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUTCHER!!!

This is a whole animal butchery, and they source all their animals locally. I usually buy ribeye and T-bone steaks and the cow was raised in riverside or Sacramento.

Amed is the guy to ask for. Super nice and always has something for me.

This isn’t Vons, this is a true butcher shop. The prices are super reasonable here.
