Dog Friendly!

Drove here on the first day to the UP. My relative had a friend that told us about this place. Escanaba is a beautiful town but this place is stuck out near the airport in an industrial park setting. That being said they have a nice place to enjoy the beer. Small inside sitting. Beer was good. Service was good. Bathrooms were spotless.

Good place to grab a drink although a bit out of the town area, close to the airport. We did the tour and it was alright, it could have been a better experience.

Awesome spot to grab some of my favourite beer from the U.P.
There is plenty of outdoor seating, just note that they only have snacks to eat and a food truck isn’t always around. I saw some people roll in on their bikes, and I think that’s a great way to get out here from Escanaba. Service was great and I had a friendly chat with bartender about some of the brewing process for beers on tap.
Bathrooms are indoor and dress is casual.

First, I have been purchasing Upper Hand Brewery products locally for a few years now, so when my wife and I decided to vacation in Escanaba, we made a point to visit the store on Monday. Walking in I loved the decor, and the bartender welcomed us cheerfully. She was also very helpful in assisting us in answering are questions, and sampling the various products, which initially I was very interested in Trail Treats, which was newer to the menu.

At the end my wife and I were interested in buying the Cider, which wasn't available in cans, but the bartender offered to make tall boys to go, which is a sealed 19 oz can, at $8 dollars each, which we told her we would take 6 of them, which at my math is $48. It seemed a little expensive, but based upon the uniqueness of the product, and in supporting a U.P. business, not a problem. After adding a sweatshirt and a couple of coozies, the final amount seemed too high. When I questioned it, the charge for the Cider was $72, or $12 each. The bartender stated she made a mistake. I understand mistakes, but this was 50% higher than originally offered, and no disclosure of the mistake at the time of purchase, which would have seemed to be the right thing to do. I would ask that they review this for future reference for their patrons, and for patrons to have awareness on the charges and bills.

09.18.2024 - No adjustments were made to the bill after discussing the differences between the quoted price and the actual charge.

Some of the best beer you can drink. All the supplies you’ll need and merchandise too. Seating indoor or outdoor (summertime). Friendly staff. Well worth the trip for a pint or two of beer.

Had a great time at Upper Hand today on our way through the area! Great atmosphere and loved the live music. Gary definitely knows his stuff, wasn’t sure which to try and explained what I liked and didn’t like and the picks he did were spot on! The pear cider was my favorite!!

Probably the only time I'll ever get here. (It ain't exactly around the corner from home)
Sampled two, the Yooper Pale Ale & the Escanaba Black Ale before settling into a full 10 ounce pour of the barrel-aged Old Fighter Barleywine (@12.7% ABV). Full-bodied, rich, smooth, extremely delicious. A sipping beer certainly.
The staff are masked, the seating is outdoors. It's 70°F at 5:30 pm the last week of June, you want to be outside. Weirdly, the bathrooms are porta-potties and right in the parking lot as you head to the front door.
Glad I stopped in.
