Recently discovered this shop and absolutely love it! It’s so cute and well curated and the perfect place to put together a gift for someone. I hope it stays around because Laguna / OC absolutely needs a shop like this. Great selection and great customer service!

Visited the Salt Horse for first time and loved this unique shop with fresh produce, spices, meat rubs, pasta, sauces, candies, and so many California food products, even ready to serve burritos! The owner is so nice and knowledgeable. Definitely stop by this nice shop in Laguna Beach.

Cute store but terribly unreliable customer service with regards to online ordering.
Adding further context in response to the owner's reply. Connsidering there are other negative comments in these reviews regarding the online store, it's likely you need to improve your customer service in this area. As I said, the store itself is lovely, but the online ordering is a mess. The facts are:

1. My gift basket was delivered a day late. When I emailed you at the end of the day it was supposed to be delivered, you had no idea what happened and said you'd ask your friend about it. That is not a professional reply. When a person orders flowers/gift baskets, they need them delivered on a certain date and you failed to deliver. I should not have to follow up with you to find out where my basket is.

2. My gift basket was missing items and were replaced by items of lesser value. This cheapens your brand and makes customers distrustful of your business. The fact that I could purchase items from your site that are not in stock demonstrates how disorganized your website is. At the very least you should communicate this to your customer and replace the items with products of equal value.

3. I emailed you before placing the order online to ask if the products I wanted to be purchased could be sent as a gift basket and I provided the address. If you did not want to deliver outside of Laguna, you could have simply said no.

Being a small business does not mean you're immune to poor reviews. At the end of the day, sending a gift basket a day late with missing products equals terribly unreliable in my books.

Placed an order well over a month ago. Never relieved an email for my purchase so I contacted the owner through instagram. For over a month I was in communication with them about my purchase and for over a month was told it would be shipped out the next day and that they would follow up with the tracking number. This kept going on and I kept getting the same confirmation that my purchase would be shipped out. It never was and eventually the items I bought started going out of season. Contacted them one last time after once again being told the same thing. Told me they would just refund me for my items that were out of season now and that it wasn’t their fault. Mind you they had well over a month to tell me they couldn’t complete my purchase. For future reference I recommend hiring staff and planning accordingly so this doesn’t happen again.

Update: the owner did not do as she claimed and instead purposefully guilt tripped me. She kept telling me she’d get the order out for over a month. Anytime I’d bring it up she’d remind me that she’s a small business (no excuse for how poorly handled this entire situation was). The customer service is absolutely horrible.

There were 3 young women who seemed to be working at the time I arrived, yet I was never greeted, nor asked if I needed help with anything. I spent about 15 minutes walking around the store, looking for gift items, and still was never acknowledged. Clearly not interested in making their customers feel welcome. Will never go back there.

This is our favorite spot to grab snacks for around the house, picnic or a road trip! Friendly and unique offerings and a very kind and delightful staff. Highly recommended for a of taste of something local and surprisingly delicious.
