Couple years ago my wife and I started grinding our coffee at home hence we tried different beans from different countries and different distributors one day driving for Ventura boulevard we found this place so we stopped just to try it. As soon as we stepped in we felt welcomed by the coffee smell and also by the friendly service. One of the highlights is that the people is always open to answering questions and if you request for a recommendation either for whole bean combinations, drinks or grind coffee. They have the best.
In my opinion you get the BEST coffee here .

After I upgraded my coffee setup, I realized that the store-bought beans just weren't cutting it. So, I decided to check out some local roasters and found The Coffee Roaster. Their website keeps a log of when each coffee is roasted, which is super helpful. I recommend letting the beans rest for at least three days after roasting. While the prices are listed per pound, you can actually buy a quarter pound if you prefer. I grabbed some Ethiopian and Java beans since I wanted a medium roast with lower acidity. I just brewed the Ethiopian coffee with my espresso machine, and wow! The first thing that hit me was the floral aroma. It had low acidity and a really fruity flavor. I'm totally hooked!

I couldn't find any info on pulling espresso shots on their site, so I chatted with Steve. He suggested using 18 grams of ground beans to get 36 grams of coffee at 200°F in 25-30 seconds. I really hope they add that info to their site soon.

For my espresso, I grind 19.5 grams of beans and pull 42.5 grams of coffee at 198°F in 30-32 seconds. I'm excited to experiment with a 1:2 ratio and maybe try slightly higher temperatures!

While the coffee beans are pretty good I had a subpar experience here. Ordered a flat white which I had to tell the barista twice and customers who came in after me got served before I did. When I received my coffee and left I discovered that they made me a cortado instead of the flat white that I ordered. Not the end of the world but it’s not necessarily a coffeeshop that I would go out of my way to go back to. Shop itself is cute with a few outdoor tables.

Favorite lil coffee shop in LA! I roast my own coffee at home (so I'm a bit of a snob about my coffee 😅) but when I'm on the run I come here. Great coffee and the baristas always have the best vibe! I always walk out with a smile!

The staff is nice. The place is small (no indoor seating). That said, the coffee wasn’t exactly to our taste. I kind of liked my cold brew with oat milk, but my wife’s cappuccino with oat milk wasn’t that great. Maybe we should have just gotten our drinks straight and the oat milk threw them off. Either way, not really our kind of coffee (not that we’re exactly coffee experts), but that is just our opinion.

I walked in and saw, who I presumed to be the owner, roasting fresh green coffee beans. He introduced himself as Steve and shook my hand. I ordered a small coffee, and it was divine intervention in a paper cup. God bless this establishment.
