Dear diary,

Today I was driving down Cork street and spotted a little red food truck sitting in front of one of my favorite carnicerías. I felt my stomach rumble and realized that I hadn't lunch yet.

I was not prepared for what happened next...

I parked my car in the parking lot and started walking. It was a brisk and cold day in April... another False Spring in Michigan. I don't know why I even hope and dream for warm weather anymore. Praying for sunshine only to wake up and open my window curtains to a sudden fall of snow flurries; I just set myself up for disappointment...

My thought train came to an abrupt stop as I was greeted by a friendly smile behind the Taco Truck window. "Hi! I'll be with you in a minute!"

My stomach was churning with ravenous hunger as I read the various selections on "Street Taco" menu. Asada, El Pastor, Carnitas, Lengua... mouthwatering aromas wafting out of the small truck window... how was I to decide?

"What can I get for you?"

A simple question... but such profound meaning. Could a street taco really change my life that much?

"Could I get a couple of Birria tacos with a Lime Jarritos?"

I whipped my phone out of my pocket and casually paid my ticket with Apple Pay, not knowing what was to come next.

I stood there watching the cars whiz by as I listened to enticing sounds of sizzling, singing like a symphony of music from the red taco truck window. The cold April wind stung my cheeks as I pondered what was in the dulcería across the street. "I should check that out sometime." I noted to myself.

"Here you go! Have a great day!" I snapped out of my train of thought. I reached up and gingerly grabbed the handles of the black plastic bag...a friendly face smiled down. I usually order the El Pastor or Carne Asada, but there was just something in me today that wanted to try something different.

I opened the door and slipped back into my car and took a swig of the deliciously tart lime soda pop in my glass bottle. I gently
grabbed the to go box and opened the lid.

Inside lay the two Birria tacos, delicately tucked in to their box on a bed of freshly sliced cucumbers, radishes, and char roasted jalapeños.

My eyes softened. A gentile smile spread across my face. A heavenly aroma filled my car.

I pinched the ends of the corn tortilla and gently lifted the taco. Adorned with beautifully diced onion and vibrant green cilantro I sunk my teeth into the soft corn tortilla...

Seriously. If you don't go to this taco truck, your life will be incomplete.

You will die with unfinished business and wander the world as a ghost, wondering what went wrong.

Love this place! One of the only spots in town to get real chorizo and oaxaca cheese. They also make really good carnitas on the weekend, which you can buy in bulk for a quick, easy dinner. Beyond that, they have an in-house butcher, a large selection of fresh meats and veggies, and all of the spices, mixes, and condiments you could possibly need to make authentic Mexican food.

This is a little Heaven where I find all my Hispanic needs. I'm making tamales and found everything and I mean everything. I also got meat for chicharones, they have goat so I can't wait to make a delicious goat curry.

Amazing little Mexican store with so many things to choose from. Even though my boyfriend and I do not speak Spanish everyone was super helpful and knowledgeable, we were able to get everything we needed to make pork carnitas. And the guacamole they make there is the best I have ever had! 10/10
