Unethical, do not waste your time. Could not access the classes and was told I could not get a refund after spending a whole day trying to deal with Canvas and passwords. Owner was not understanding. There are other grant writing courses to take, even better in person where you’re not at the mercy of technology and an owner who just wants to take your money.

Allison is truly amazing! I had no prior experience to grant writing before I started the class. The course moved so smoothly, everything was well organized and I enjoyed our weekly discussions. Allison is a powerhouse and deserves all the recognition possible as she is so knowledgeable. I have taken many courses for professional development and they all are either complicated, unorganized or I end up feeling like I didn't learn anything. Allison has done an amazing job of taking all her industry knowledge and professional experience and creative a seamless course that is made for everyone. I never felt lost and all of the content is relevant, timely and digestible. Allison provided great feedback that pushed my writing and I am so grateful for her. Spark the Fire Grantwriting is an excellent, one-of-a-kind grant writing course! Professor Allison Jones has created a gem in this field where a novice can come in and learn the amount of extensive information required without getting overwhelmed and come out of it confident they can write a winning grant. The course she wrote is brilliantly explained, laid out, and clear to follow. But much more than that is her personalized feedback. This is what truly sets this course apart. Professor Jones wants you to be able to write a “winning” grant and not just have the book smarts. Her coaching brought me personally to the point that I feel like I can write a very compelling grant, and I am extremely grateful.

This was probably the most well organized class I've ever taken. Allison used Canvas so effectively and made learning about the arguably intimidating skill and study of Grant Writing so much more approachable and easier to understand. The class sessions were well organized with a clear agenda and I never felt like my time was being wasted with unnecessary topics. The assignments were all really useful and built naturally towards the final project, which allowed me to focus and plan on my final submission throughout the entire course. Thanks Allison!

Allison at Spark the Fire offers an excellent certificate program in grantwriting. You get weekly feedback on the grant you write for the course, individual time to meet with her during office hours, and great peer review sessions. I'm so glad that I went with this program. The pacing of the course is ideal for someone already working a busy job, and Allison offered several class times to accommodate all of our schedules. After completing the course, I feel confident to take on grantwriting work.

Allison Jones is a lovely teacher and her course is well structured, informative, organized, and engaging. Throughout the course, we simultaneously write a grant proposal, focusing on one section per week, as well as learn the details and nuances of the industry. Having finished, I feel confident that I can write polished and compelling proposals. Additionally, Allison’s course provides a network to connect with grant writers, former students, and professionals. I would definitely take another course with Allison!

I took Alison's Spark the Fire grantwriting class this past spring. While I’ve worked in communications and design, grant management, and donor development, I wanted to deepen my understanding of grant writing.

The online Zoom class had about 20 participants and met once a week. Each session came with a fair amount of homework, including readings, quizzes, and assignments.

The course was well-structured, with each class building on the previous week’s lessons. By the end, we had each completed a full grant proposal for an organization of our choosing. The experience left me feeling confident, knowledgeable, and empowered.

Alison has a deep command of the subject and shares her knowledge in a way that’s accessible and easy to understand. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to learn more about grantwriting.
