Eastern Market is amazing. Lots of great vendors, pleased to support them when I come back home!

A less-than-stellar experience with an otherwise AH-MAZING sausage purveyor. I know there are people who are NOT people persons but you need to have the right people on the front line. I'm not expecting yoga with my purchase but customer service IS make or break, regardless of your product.

I'm a huge fan of the market. It's almost a bi-weekly visit with the family not only to buy produce but for the overall experience; we go to the market even when we don't need absolutely anything. In contrast to life in the suburb, you get to see more people walking around, beautiful murals throughout. Also, you get more than just produce; you have the meat market, the plant vendors, the fresh bakery stands, and all the other vendors from jewelry to hats and everything in between. In addition, you get the various food trucks outside the sheds, not to forget the "French Cow" with the amazing crepes they make inside the shed. My most valued attractions are the street performers of all types and the live jazz & blues playing outside of "Bert's". To all fairness, there is much more to the market than what I had mentioned (from the restaurants around to the street vendors outside, etc.). However, the ones mentioned are my main points of interest. My only negative take is the prevailing "non-farmers" vendors that are growing every year in comparison to the actual farmers selling their produce directly. If I wanted to buy what chain grocery stores have, I would just go and do that. Most of the vendors are selling fruits and vegetables that are exactly what you find at your local chain grocery stores (they bother taking the stickers off) they just sell the in small cute baskets that give the impression that you are buying locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the farm to you. After going to the market for over 20 years, I've developed a preference and awareness to the difference between the two. I just wish they were more real farmers selling directly. All being said, it is a wonderful experience, it is worth visiting, and we're lucky to have it.

Saturday Market was a really cool experience! Lots of vendors, great atmosphere and a lot of interesting things to see. Parking can get tricky if you aren't early but it's definitely worth checking out!

Eastern Market is a wonderful place to grab anything plant related that you might need . It's also surrounded by deli's and meat markets. You can find cool clothing, accessories and cooked food throughout too. I always find more than what I came for and leave with a smile. An amazing thing that they have statewide, but here at the Eastern Market are "Double UP bucks". When you go to the Welcome Center with a bridge card, you can get 2x your money in coins to buy fresh Michigan produce! Many vendors accept these coins. You'll get gold and silver. Almost every vendor accepts the gold ones ($1 coins) and many accept the silver ($2) coin. For $20 you'll be swimming in produce, cause you're getting $40 in coins and the produce here is so reasonable! I love it here and I'm kicking myself for not going more to this amazing Detroit jewel.
