A beautiful place and unforgettable experience. Richard and Myrna are so hospitable and passionate about making the best olive oil in the world. After the tasting I can honestly say I’ve never tasted better olive oil. My only regret is that we didn’t have time to stay longer to hear more about their farm and story!

We had a phenomenal and super memorable time at Richard’s olive farm during our trip to San Miguel/ Paso Robles. It was very easy to schedule a private tour and complementary tasting with Richard and Myrna through email as they are super responsive and accommodating to our travel schedule. We were even able to bring our little doggie with us to visit! Thank you Richard for taking the time to share the history of the farm and the process of olive oil production with us. Your passion and knowledge is obviously unmatched, and we truly learned so much! The high quality extra virgin olive oils (and balsamic vinegars imported directly from Italy) introduced to us during the tasting were absolutely delicious. They’re each rich, flavorful, and unique in their own way that we couldn’t help but to bring a few bottles back. It was no wonder they won walls and tables full of awards over the years! If you are in the area, be sure to stop by for a visit!

Visiting San Miguel Olive Farm is an experience not to be missed. Richard and Myrna invite you into their special place with grace, joy, and love -- the same qualities that are enabling them to produce literally world-class olive oil. Hundreds of international and national awards line one wall of the tasting room to prove it. First though --You will sit under the trees on the patio and have a delightful lesson in what makes good olive oil. Then Richard shows you around the trees. You will hold an olive and smooth it open and see what an olive looks like inside and you will feel the oil gently massaging your fingers. Richard is an incredibly knowledgeable and endearing teacher -- you will feel you are in the presence of a Wise One. And then you will have an olive oil tasting. My husband and I had not done this except for on a visit to Spain several years ago, and it was in many ways like being back in a sort of "old country" world. You are instructed in how to actually taste olive oil (much like you would by a professional when you are tasting wine). And also taught about the different flavors in different years and kinds of oil. Every single oil we tasted was absolutely incredibly delicious. But you also learn why good olive oil has health benefits that our more common oils do not. Anyway -- if you are looking for something to do up near Paso Robles and Atascadero that is unique, delightful, instructive, and will leave you with long-lasting memories of a place, an experience, and two lovely people -- reserve a tour at San Miguel Olive Farm. Your whole family, friend-group, or just your single self will be so glad you did.

We had a truly unforgettable time at San Miguel Olive Farm! The owner, Richard, was great to communicate with prior to our visit and was very accomodating with scheduling a tour of his farm. Upon our arrival, he met us at the gate and shared an olive branch along with instructions to make olive tea. He then shared his story of how he went from being a drummer to operating a natural olive farm. After giving us a verbal education on olives and how his olive oil is produced, he gave us a walking tour of the farm, showing us how to care for trees, know when olives are ready for harvest, etc. Our tour ended with a tasting of many different olive oils and vinegars - it was so hard to pick a favorite! While there was absolutely no pressure to purchase any bottles, he helped us choose which olive oils to buy based on the types of foods we are thinking of using it with. We had such a lovely morning with Richard and appreciate his hospitality and kindness during this extremely educational and personal experience. I cannot reccommend it enough! Thank you again!

My partner and I spent a truly wonderful afternoon learning about what true passion tastes like. Richard deserves every award he has received and all the awards to come. We are grateful to have learned what olive oil should be and plan to enjoy their products for years to come.

Have you ever met someone completely passionate about their work that they make you question your work? Richard is the Olive oil man!

We planned a trip to see his farm on the last day of our trip. I sadly can't drink right now, so what else is there to do outside of family activities and wineries? Olive oil farming! It was a great way to end our time on the central coast.

Richard started by telling us about his story of becoming the Olive oil man. He helped us learn about Olive trees (we had brought a branch from our tree), the olives themselves, and the milling process.

He brought us into his tasting room, and we tried various oils and a vinegar, as wells as a few flavor pairings. We really have a new appreciation for not only olives, Olive oils, and farming, but Richard and smaller, non-commercial farmers. Every bottle is a labor of love crafted by him, his wife, and even his dog.

The visit felt like we had visited an uncle, and we did buy oils (he definitely doesn't ask you to, but after tasting then and knowing the process, you definitely want to.) We were going to send some as gifts, but it's hard to appreciate something as much unless you've experienced it. We experienced the San Miguel Olive Farm and we're better for it.

Thanks again Richard! We definitely will try to come up one October to experience the harvesting to complete the journey.

We absolutely loved our tour today at the San Miguel Olive oil farm. Richard the owner was absolutely amazing. To be honest we didn’t know much about olive oil before our tour. But Richard filled us in on everything there is to know. Everything we tasted was absolutely wonderful. The farm is beautiful with breathtaking views. But the best part of the tour was definitely getting to hang out with Richard. He is a great guy! It was a special day. And the most amazing olive oil I’ve ever tasted! Definitely recommend! Thank you!
