I purchased a automatic hose reel from Costco, manufactured by Root Lowell.

It was used in a temperature controlled environment, not subject to frequent or heavy use. All normal usage, to wash garage floor and car, a few times a month.

It simply stopped retracting automatically and frequently got stuck. Upon investigation, the hose had a leak inside the reel (not outside impact/factors) and rusted parts of the metal spring.

I contacted Costco and they referred me to manufacturer, as they could not do anything and in fact stopped ordering this item from RL.

I contacted RL customer service who sikpky refused to do anything because it was past the one year manufacturer warranty stated on the box. While I understand it is past a stated timeline, a clear manufacturer defect should be subject to a bit more assistance or desire to keep a client satisfied with the product/company by way of SOME resolution or proposal. The agent did not make any effort beyond “I understand your frustration” and “It was clearly stated on the box”.

This is extremely subpar customer care and not anything remotely close to standing behind a company’s product.

Seeing the exact same product being sold by another company under a different brand leads me to believe that it’s a sub-contracted item, most likely cheaper quality materials and labor, and just branded for resale.

I’m not against this model of business but I am against not taking responsibility for poor product quality management and having front line employees repeat the same “rules” and not put themselves in customer’s shoes or use more real world experience to try and find a solution.

Poor product.

These people's garden pump sprayer is the biggest piece of human feces that was ever foisted on the consumer! It would NOT even work when it was new out of the box! I felt scammed, cheated, and defrauded out of my money when I bought this piece of feces! You will too, if you get as I did! I would suggest that you avoid these peoples brand of sprayers like the HIV and the plague!

Used twice and the release tab on the outside broke rendering the entire thing unusable. I’d really like my money back considering it broke off seemingly quite easy considering I do not even know how it happened!

I simply asked about a problem I was having with my sprayer and, "how can we help you". Very customer focused. Highly recommend
