Police officers have an oath to serve and protect but racism seems to cloud the judgement of officers in this jurisdiction. My father recently had a gun pulled out on him BY HIS EMPLOYER at his job site, we reached out to police and even with multiple eye witness testimonies they decided to believe my fathers employer and didn’t make a police report. This reeks of racism since my father and the people who witnessed this incident were Latinos and the employer was a white man, if the roles were reversed I’m sure there would have been multiple arrests. This is honestly very disappointing and I’m very concerned about the rest of the Latino community in Punta Gorda whom I doubt get any support from this police department.

Recently I was involved in a hit and run incident and wasn't able to get the plate. Called 911 and phone rang once and I wasn't really able to make zero sense being wound up and the operator calmed me down and asked if I was hurt. That calmed me down and I was able to make a not so good description. I wasn't expecting any assistance based on what I was able to recount. Within the hour the PTPD called me and asked me to come in and identify a vehicle that they had stopped and sure enough it was the one. I was beyond happy and appreciative but mainly blown away that they actually found the vehicle. That saved me a couple thousand dollars and much appreciation for this department. I was just passing through but you all have an awesome PD. Thanks again to the PGPD for their steadfast intervention in this matter.

Have perfect 10 years of driving records. The black officer was so aggressive and blamed that I was a violent driver. No attorney is needed, I will fight in court, and I had my video recording. You have to SERVE community, and community pays taxes. Somehow, drug dealers get away for serious crimes, but you are getting used to punishing people for non existing violations of law , just to bring money to your county.

I want to start this review by saying I 100% support and respect all police officers for keeping the community safe. I was pulled over and was told my license was suspended without any prior knowledge. The officer couldn’t tell me why. I showed proof of registration and insurance. He proceeded to take my license plate and drivers license and told me I couldn’t even have my parents drive my car to their house. Mind you, this was close to midnight and I had my dog in the car. The officer left me on the side of the road, alone. It wouldn’t have bothered me as much if this would have been during the day. But I’m a female and was left on a dark road at night and wasn’t even offered to have him wait with me until I got a ride from someone. I then went on the DMV website and it says my license was suspended due to no insurance. Completely false because my insurance is paid on time every month and I even showed proof from my policy’s website. I understand we all have jobs to do and rules to follow but this was completely unnecessary.

My prayers goes out to the office’s family who loss his life a few days ago. Today shows us that love always win as the community came together to support his family and for keeping us safe. May God give you strength while you re-adapt to this new life you didn’t ask for. Thank you to PG police officers for all that you do. Somehow someway we have to come up with a better solution for gun laws because it is very dangerous when they are in the wrong hand.

Thank you to the Punta Gorda Police Department for following up on a hit and run of a cyclist in a group. They found the culprit from the side view mirror that was torn off when it hit a person and tracked the driver down! Well done!

Was dealt with by officer Eric Lee on December 8th. Alleged I “ran a red light”. Don’t believe I did but regardless, he gives cops a bad name and was a tool for the way he handled the situation.
