The bakery department was terrific yesterday! I called last minute to find a coconut cake around town, but to no avail. When I called Pavillons, not only did the bakery (Jamie) offer to make the coconut cake for me fresh, she would make a Happy Birthday name plate and have it ready within 2 hours. The price was also AMAZING. I would come back for sure. Thank you Jamie, my friend who LOVES coconut, loved the cake. It was a 100% success because of you.

The produce is not fresh, even the organics. There were limited options when looking meats at the deli. I shopped there after work after my shift as a hospice nurse. I’ve faced few racial encounters in my life and I went through an unpleasant encounter yesterday’s visit. I went to an empty register where an African American man did not want to acknowledge me and I had to ask if he was currently working the register. He did not say a hello and was just scanning my items, during that process, a Caucasian man asks the cashier where he can find an item. The cashier smiled at him and offered to go with him and find the item he was looking for. The bagger ,a Hispanic woman kept talking to me in Spanish. I am Asian American, the bagger treated my produce as if it were donated to me when I had spent $300. I then heard her speaking to other customers in English.

Dear Pavilions Management,

I am writing to formally raise a concern about an unpleasant experience I had at your Santa Monica location. While shopping for a customer, I had a large number of items, which required some time at checkout. The cashier, a woman of Mexican descent (Candy or Kandy), was noticeably unfriendly and repeatedly told me I was taking too long. She pressured me to let other customers pass and insisted that I hurry, despite my efforts to check out efficiently.

What I find troubling is that elderly customers, who often require even more time at checkout, do not seem to receive the same treatment. This suggests inconsistent customer service practices that could potentially indicate discriminatory behavior.

Under California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act (California Civil Code § 51), businesses are prohibited from discriminating against customers based on arbitrary factors. If certain individuals—such as elderly customers—are treated with more patience while others, like myself, are pressured unfairly, this raises concerns about potential discriminatory treatment.

Additionally, under California's Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA, Civil Code § 1750 et seq.), businesses must engage in fair and non-deceptive practices when providing services to customers. Unfairly rushing a customer or treating them with hostility could be seen as a violation of fair business practices.

I urge you to address this matter to ensure that all customers, regardless of their background or the time they take to check out, receive equal and professional treatment. Please let me know how you intend to resolve this issue.

Essentially, the Vons with higher prices, a cleaner store, slightly more upscale selection, and safer fellow customers(at the Vons on 14th, I’m often concerned for my safety). That said, the cashiers are painfully rude. Also, few checkout lanes; thus, you will wait. Per previous reviews, the parking is very tight.

This is a dog park. Lots and lots of non-service dogs on looong leashes making attorneys sweat in anticipation of liability awards…please stop letting Karens bring their filthy dogs in; they aren’t service dogs they’re just Karen’s dog. Soooo gross.
FWIW I am a dog owner 55 years I JUST DONT BRING THEM INTO A FOOD STORE, KAREN.

A nice couple a self checkout this morning at 8:30am giggled when their dogs sneezed.

This location is clean. The employees are friendly. There is a great selection of foods I haven't seen at other markets. The food looks and tastes fresh and delish. The produce is better than other local markets.
