No visit to MSU is complete without a stop at the Dairy Store! Highly recommend the Spartan Swirl flavor (previously the Sesquicentennial Swirl). Even the waffle cones are made with little Spartan logos in them.

That being said, in past years, they used to sell various cheese products; we liked picking up some cheese curds to snack on but did not see anything of the sort in our most recent visit. It seemed like they were interested in only selling ice cream pints and "gift shop" apparel.

They have also removed all indoor seating which is unfortunate if you are visiting during the winter months. They have benches and tables outside but they were covered in snow during our visit. We were left standing in the hallway outside the store to eat our ice cream. I really want to give the Dairy Store a 5* rating but unfortunately this last point really sticks with me. Bring back indoor seating please!

I have been to Country Dairy, House of Flavors, Moomers and several other smaller ice cream places. This is by far the best ice cream I have ate in Michigan. I kid you not. It is creamy and incredibly delicious. It was so good that we went back again the same day. Twice in one day is unheard of for me. I used to work with ice cream. Frozen custard and I am familiar especially with Chocolate Shoppe out of Wisconsin. I know ice cream and I am highly critical. How it tastes, the consistency, the flavor, the quality and quantity of ingredients, all the way to if it has been exposed to heat for too long. It is a science. They have it! 5 stars all the way. One of the biggest failures for a store is if there is iced water in the ice cream, so for a store that had college students working it and not have any ice from scoops or the sides of the freezer is very well done, I applaud them! Don't forget to check out the observation deck

A must-visit ice cream+ store if you are visiting MSU campus! I had the Spartan Swirl milkshake (I believe this ice cream flavor used to be called the “Sesquicentennial Swirl” previously). It was really good! They also have a dozen other flavors and they are all good. During the academic year they also have soup during lunch! There is no seating inside so you just have to grab and go or eat/drink outside. No cash.

There's always long line. People come and go. Worth it to be in the line. They have a lot variant of ice cream and they are yummy.

A culinary experience awaits you at the MSU Dairy Store! Great dairy treats are available all throughout the day and into the evening! Parking is a little tricky, this place is easier to get to on foot more than anything. Staff is friendly and helpful! MSU Dairy Store can be very busy at times, out the door busy! On football Saturdays forget about it, the wait is all day and even harder to get inside. Plan for summer visits or winter, not nearly as busy! Always a good time at the Dairy Store!

From the moment you walk in, there's a really sweet scent in the air ✨️.
They have a wide variety of flavors.
Very very creamy.
The directions on how to order where not very clear from the beginning, so I had to ask how it worked 😅 putting up a sign may help with that 🫡 paying for it was also complicated because it didn't allow me to put on any tips lol so I didn't know what to press.

Awesome ice cream and great serving size for the price! Their sorbets aren't as good as the ice cream though and unfortunately they got rid of my favorite flavor, butter pecan 🙁
