I’ve had good experiences at this store in the past, but my recent visit left me feeling unwelcome and hurt due to my interaction with the tall, Caucasian male manager named Chris.

I arrived early to pick up an online yarn order with a 20% discount and offered to help gather the items to expedite the process. Some yarns were out of stock or not as expected, so I asked the manager if I could switch a few. He said I could and directed me to bring the replacements to the register.

However, when I reached the register, he seemed annoyed and abruptly said, “I’m just going to cancel your orders,” then canceled my entire order without asking or even looking at me. When I inquired about still receiving the discount, he refused and explained that “pick-ups save company money from having to have people at the register,” making me feel worse for arriving early and needing help at the counter and to validate his reasoning for why he's cancelling my orders.

I'm also an Asian woman. I saw Chris the manager being friendly and warm to other Caucasian customers, so when he was treating me this way, it made me feel discriminated against due to my ethnicity.

I asked about different coupons and he just told me to check my phone and I did. In the end, I used a different coupon that offered a smaller discount and ended up paying nearly $20 more than planned. I didn’t want to create a scene, so I apologized for arriving early, even though I didn’t need to. The manager’s dismissive, discriminatory attitude made me feel like a burden, and I left the store emotionally drained and upset, and getting a panic attack for what I just experienced.

As someone with experience as a retail pharmacist, I understand how stressful customer service can be. I've had people yell, curse, and throw things at me. I know it is draining to deal with people all day. This is why I always try to show up with extra patience for retail workers and this is why I offered to help.

This encounter was unfair and I was treated as an annoyance and a burden, to a place I showed up with excitement and joy to create. To offer them my money and my business. I wasn’t being unreasonable or impatient with any of the workers. This experience was deeply upsetting, and I hope this manager, improves his customer service, in handling online orders and not dismissing his customers or making them feel discriminated against.

Very wonderful place for crafts.. Staff was friendly. For a small store it has alot. Manager Nick was amazing.

Small store but they pack a lot of stuff! Staff is very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable (which is important to me because most times, I don't know how much material I need so I describe to the staff and they help me guesstimate the yards).
Pumpkin helped me this go around and they made sure I had what I needed for my project!

The experience I had was not pleasant. The store wasn’t that big, but they should have aisle numbers so that the workers could correctly direct customers to the right place to look for items. The worker didn’t know where the safety pins were. She described the aisle that she thought had them, which wasn’t so helpful.

I visited this store to find 2 specific school color ribbons to make a lei for my son's graduation. The colors were hard to find and I have already went to different stores to look for them. The team member at the store named Lisa asked if I needed help, and I told her what I was looking for. She help me look through the entire collection of ribbons for the size and colors I needed. I was very happy with her customer service and she was very friendly and patient with me. She even helped on some other items I was looking for and she rang up my purchase. I was so happy to find the exact colors and enough ribbons to make leis for my son and his teachers. Thank you Lisa!

Joann’s is great! Clean and has everything you need for all your projects!
The only thing I would like to see an improvement in is better quality jewelry finding! I only deal in Gold filled but they don’t carry anything like it!

A great place to shop. We go here all the time. The staff is nice and helpful. And my mom, a retired person, spends so much time here that they recognize her and make her feel welcomed. And their products are great and well priced. A definite place to put in your contacts.
