I had never been in here before I came for the UAB Surgery pre-pride parade get together. I was impressed! The inside is much larger than it looks from the street. It was big enough to host UAB in one area, a birthday party in another area, and still have plenty of seating for the general public. The movie-theater billboard style menu above the bar makes it feel like a party in there! I will say the bar staff were not over-enthusiastic about serving. They seemed more curt and matter-of-fact, but maybe they were just upset that they had to work during the pride parade. Hi-wire has a few arcade games, floor pool, ping pong, and plenty of outdoor seating. I tried one of the beer slushies and it was tasty. My next drink was the lime seltzer and it was also good! It doesn’t appear that they serve food, but the Mexican truck that stays stationed at Mayawell was a lifesaver! They also have a lot of Hi-wire merch and to-go 6-packs inside for purchase.

The cast kept me entertained the entire night. Jackie, Wix, and Elly were great. We laughed, we lived, we loved. 10/10 experience. Tip your bartenders.

Spacious brewery with ample outside seating. Plenty of indoor and outdoor games to enjoy while you're hanging out. I enjoyed the beers. I had the Hopcity collaboration and very pleased. My friend had their stout and brown ale which were both very good as well. Staff was attentive and quick. I wouldn't say overly friendly, but that's more common than not in the larger breweries. Definitely worth checking out.

Spacious, welcoming and friendly environment. The locally brewed beers are varied and exotic. I appreciated the server giving me a taste of the beers I was interested in. $4 happy hour price is great! The only improvement would be to offer some solid food (snack-ish items at least) to go with all that great beer.

Huge brewery with ping pong tables and Foose ball games. 20 craft beers to choose from. Awesome outdoor sitting area with a man made stream with cool rock features. Life size chess game was pretty cool. I had both of the lagers they are good. Another cool brewery for birmingham.

A large, light-filled room with plenty of seating, table tennis, foosball, soccer ball Billard, plenty of entertainment. A long bar with a full tap list that can be read from far away.
The greenery alongside the patio is inviting but lined with many signs that prohibit touching the rocks or the water. It is understandable that they want to protect the designed landscape and shield the company against liability but it feels overly regulated. What surprised me was that a flight of four 4 oz samples is $16. $8 for an ok but filtered "hazy IPA" is steep in particular when tax is not included but what dropped this review to 3 stars is that the credit card reader offered three choices for the tip: 20%, 30%, and 40%, which are also applied to the tax. All in all: More than $10 for a 12 oz "pint" is too much.

I happened to stumble upon this brewery when I was visiting Birmingham for a family wedding. This brewery was so spacious and had plenty of fun games to play. The beers on tap were amazing. Really enjoyed their sours. Staff were knowledgeable and answered any questions I had about the beers. Keep up the good work guys!
I highly recommend checking this place out. I wish I lived closer, this would be my go to brewery!

Insane space only surpassed by amazing beers and friendly staff.

I have been to Birmingham on and off for about a decade and Trimtab was always the stop-off, but this year I noticed Hi-Wire had a presence in Birmingham. I was disappointed that I missed out on trying 10W-40 in their Asheville location after Thanksgiving due to bad luck. Not only does the Birmingham community seem to not understand what they have, they completely overlook the package freezer.

Anniversary beers and 10W-40 treated variants were well in stock. Collabs too. When I did a Tasmanian devil on the to-go cooler their staff tried to hook me up with some kind of case-to-go weekend deal I didn’t even know existed. After I admitted half the car was stouts, we called in the specialists as H.G. proceeded to dissect my craft beer homunculus into the best deal she could possibly find. I was stunned and joyous, including BA cans: I left with a case of every lager, IPA and stout worth drinking (two of each) and left for less than $100.

The other staff who I didn’t get to meet but did an amazing job servicing and answering questions deserve kudos as well, I am sure H.G. can remember who they are.

Thank you for trying so hard to keep craft beer relevant in the state of Alabama, I hope Birmingham appreciates what they have in a location, staff and product.
