Extremely Disorganized and Unhelpful – Would Not Recommend

I had a very frustrating experience with this State Farm office and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere. About two months ago, I contacted them well in advance of purchasing a home in a high fire-risk area to ensure I could secure homeowners insurance. They sent an inspector to the property and gave us a few simple tasks to complete—removing debris from the roof and trimming branches within 10 feet of the house. We had the seller take care of these issues before the closing.

However, once it came time to finalize the purchase, the office began backtracking. They said they needed more time to complete the underwriting process, which put us in a difficult position as we were closing on the house. We were forced to secure another policy through a different insurance company to complete the transaction.

A week and a half after the fact, I received a call from the State Farm office saying they wouldn’t cover us. The reason? We had canceled our previous homeowners policy (which we had to do after selling our old home). State Farm informed me they require an active policy in place in the area before they’ll cover anyone, and they were unwilling to make an exception.

I continued reaching out to them for clarification and help, but despite their repeated apologies, nothing was done to resolve the situation. In the end, I had to settle for a much more expensive policy elsewhere—five times more than what they originally quoted me.

This office is disorganized, unresponsive, and completely unhelpful when it comes to customer service. They’ll tell you they’re sorry, but don't expect them to actually do anything to fix a problem they've caused. I strongly recommend finding another State Farm office, as this one clearly doesn't know how to handle even basic customer needs.
