Put in room for observation post shoulder surgery, due to heart disease. They never hooked up a monitor to me, or come in to check my heart. Diabetic and they took all those medications from me. Next day blood sugar was 400! Now they want me to stay longer to bring them down. Student nurse told me not to get out of bed without help, rang the nurse and waited 45 minutes before I got out of bed myself to use restroom. She came in room and I asked her for icepack, she told me the one I had was cold enough. Surgery was very good with great results, I would never go to HenryFord to be admitted to them. Chelsea hospital way better.

Was here the other day, went in for a serious allergic reaction by ambulance. A room wasn't ready, so they sent me to the lobby knowing my tongue was swelling and I was having trouble breathing. No oxygen nothing. After two hours of waiting the meds given in ambulance finally started to kick in just benadryl. And I asked for assistance to check my vitals only to see if I was good to go home and the hospital staff took a hour to even have a Dr assess this after I was there for two hours. Then to be able to bill my insurance more they had me waiting another 2 hours in the waiting room after saying they were gonna discharge me, to "get another opinion" before unhooking my IV. Which wasn't even hooked up to anything. No Urinalysis or anything. Just had me waiting in the lobby. I had my husband pick me up and I choose to never go back to this hospital again. I will choose any other hospital closer to Detroit because at least down there they care about people. The hospital staff when I asked for assistance gave me an attitude and the doctor acted like he didn't even care about what was going on with my situation when I told him I was having trouble breathing. So when my husband came and got me I gave myself an epinephrine a Benadryl and a steroid which I had on hand from a previous doctor visit having issues with this in the past. I saved my own life luckily I had what I needed.

Very impressed with the immediate help I received in the ER with continued help by being admitted for 2 days. I was scared but by the time I was released I felt confident that I was on my way back to normal. All the nurses, aides and doctors took their time helping me, answering questions and meeting my needs. My room was quiet and comfortable and I felt secure. It was easy to order food and the movie channel was a great distraction from my anxiety, thank you for having that available. I am following up with my primary care doctor today and feeling back to normal and hopeful for my health going forward. I wish I had written down all the names of the staff that helped me but please know this- they all were knowledgeable, caring and responsive to my needs and I will be forever grateful for their expert care. I love Henry Ford and feel lucky to have such a great hospital available to me in Jackson.

My husband went into ER two weeks ago and unfortunately it was not a good experience! He was unable to void so a catheter was inserted and fluid was pushed into his bladder to flush out clots from a previous procedure he had. Staff would take over 15 minutes to respond to the call light and I had resorted to cleaning dried blood off my husband’s leg and the floor more than once since staff wouldn’t take the time to attend to it. My husband was extremely uncomfortable on the gurney and it took almost 20 hours for a pillow to be brought for him. My husband was very uncomfortable and after many hours, it was discovered a blood clot was clotting his catheter. Due to the neglect of the staff of not checking his catheter, he had 975 ml of fluid in his bladder which caused his creatinine numbers to go up. He ended up being in the ER for over 28 long hours before he was able to be admitted to a room on the 5th floor. I total understand that it was a busy night in the ER but this lack of care was inexcusable in my opinion.
Care was better once we were in a room. He eventually had to be taken to surgery to have his bladder cleaned out of clots and to stop the bleeding. When he was taken to surgery from the floor, I asked the transport team how long will the procedure take. Neither of the transport team knew. I then asked his nurse on the floor and she also said she had no idea. I waited over 3 long hours in my husband’s room before I heard from my stepson that my stepson was in the surgical waiting room on third floor; my stepson then proceeded to inform me how to get there where I finally was able to receive an update of my husband’s progress in surgery. This should have been the floor nurse’s responsibility to inform me when he was taken to surgery. Never again will we go to this hospital for an emergency if we can help it!

Brought my 80 father in for having heart problems and been in the waiting room for almost 4 hours. They do not follow Hippa protocol. They come right in the waiting room in front of every and discuss your issues and results. By far the worst er experience in many many years. Unorganized and incompetent. Jackson has gone downhill in so many ways but a hospital should offer at least halfway decent care. They are light years away from running properly in my opinion. They must add on and get more staff or open another hospital like most cities. SMH

This hospital is so terrible my mom was in a car accident at 2:30 in the afternoon. She was sandwiched between cars and was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance here we are 6 hours later and nothing. Still in the same room and bed as when she got here they didn't take her for CT scan till 5 hours after she arrived by ambulance. Terrible service go to Chelsea or U of M to get the care that you deserve especially when they charge $1k per hour

I was sent to the ER from an urgent care, first time being here at this hospital. I hear bad things about the ER, but I had a pleasant visit. Yes, I was there for 6 ish hours but when people come in for non emergency problems and wanting unnecessary testing, of course you’re going to have a long wait. The people who I spoke to yesterday, were wonderful! Really loved the nurse I had.

I can only speak for the cardiac surgery team and cardiac ICU, but my dad has received wonderful care. He had significant unforeseen complications following his surgery and they've done their absolute best to take care of him. Dr. Mary, Dr. Khan and nurse Heather and Sharee (sorry if the spelling is incorrect), thank you so much!
