A Cut Above – Elizabeth’s Chophouse is Pure Steak Heaven

When we’re in Marquette, there’s one place that’s an absolute must: Elizabeth’s Chophouse. And this last trip? Let’s just say my taste buds are still writing thank-you notes.

I ordered the 18-ounce bone-in tenderloin, and it was nothing short of perfection. Cooked exactly right, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and packed with flavor like it owed me money. It’s the kind of steak that makes you close your eyes and reconsider every other steak you’ve ever had.

Now let’s talk cocktails—because their smoked old-fashioned isn’t just the best in town… it’s the best in the state of Michigan. No contest. The smoky aroma hits you before the glass does, and the flavor backs it up like a smooth jazz soundtrack for your meal.

We come here every time we’re in Marquette, and never once have we been disappointed. The food, the service, the vibe—Elizabeth’s nails it across the board. If you’re looking for an unforgettable meal in the U.P., don’t even hesitate. Get the tenderloin, sip that old-fashioned, and thank me later.

Went here to ball out with the company I work for, colonial life. This is your classic American steak house. Take your average god fearing patriot and they will know pretty much everything is on the menu, so if you're wanting to try something new this is not the place. But everything was delicious!!!! 3 of us ordered the honey Bourbon steak, cooked different, and we all had been satisfied with how it was cooked. The waitress was also on point! This was my first time going here but won't be my last.

Made a 7:30 birthday reservation on Monday. From the moment we walked in everyone and everything was perfect! My apologies for not remembering our great servers name but she made my birthday great! We ordered the crab cake for an appetizer and both my fiancé and I had the 6oz filet mignon is was really a great steak. It was prepared and seasoned well. The sides we picked were au gratin potatoes, baked potato, Brussels sprouts and soup. They were good. The 2 desserts we picked were a perfect ending!

1st time eating here, though I've lived here the majority of my life. Was a great place with excellent service. I enjoyed the fun cocktails and food options. For Marquette, I think it's a great fancy, classy place to celebrate. When compared to a bigger city, this place does a good job of keeping pace with other classy joints. However, I did find the food not as flavorful as I expected for the prices. The presentation was excellent though and the staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable.
We sat on the patio which was a real treat, with great sights of the water and harbor.

I've visited Elizabeth's 2x in the last few months. Each time was different with the last time not being as good as before. Atmosphere is nice and the seating on the heated deck is awesome as it overlooks the bay and the iron ore bridge. The food the first time I visited was better then last. I order the porter house and it was amazing. The 2nd time I had the salmon during restaurant week as they had a 4 course meal for $40. It was decent but not amazing that you would expect with this type of restaurant. The service is always amazing as they go above and beyond to ensure you are well taken care of. I would still say this is a great place to come and enjoy a nice meal with a great atmosphere for family of all ages.

Visiting Marquette for a few days and took our friends to Elizabeth’s. What a great choice! Undoubtedly the finest dining in the city. The ribeye and lobster special was an excellent choice. The Black Stallion cab was excellent as well. Amy did a great job serving our group. Highly recommended

My wife and I visited twice in 1 week.
Visit one, wedding anniversary
Her: strawberry bazil lemonade
Filet mignon Oscar style, Brussel sprouts.
Drink was very flavorful, and not over powered.
Steak was cooked right, very tender. Great cut of meat.
The Oscar style on top was "meh". Not what was expected from the establishment and reviews.
Brussel sprouts were amazing.
Him: bloody Mary, hickory ribeye, baked potato.

Steak was one of the best I have ever eaten. The added flavors from the salt block it's served on brings it to the next level. Steak was cooked exactly how I ordered. Fat melted in my mouth.
Baked potato was a good size and cooked nice n soft. Zero complaints.
The bloody Mary was not good in any aspect in my opinion.

Visit 2: birthday
Her: chophouse salad and crab cake. Another strawberry bazil lemonade.
Absolutely loved everything she got. Salad was very fresh, crisp.

Him: American waygu tenderloin, baked potato, strawberry lemonade.
Was disappointed by the waygu. Was still a good cut of meat cooked perfectly... But for less money u can get the hickory ribeye which is miles better.

Anniversary night the server was very very slow. I finished my meal before I got my sauce I asked for.
We also waited almost 20 min after eating to receive our bill.
Birthday night.... One of the best most attentive servers I have had in a long time.

I short, check out this place. Great staff, even better food.

Friends setup up reservations for us to dine here while staying at their camp. This restaurant can holds it own against some of the finest anywhere. Everything was amazing and the owner/chef went table to table making sure everything was great. What a great place to have dinner. Highly recommend.
