The food was better than average, as well as the atmosphere and service. I could tell the people working at this restaurant are very hard working and caring, and it was nice to eat at a restaurant like this. The reason why I'm not giving five stars is because I couldn't tell you something that this restaurant has that sticks out from the rest. Of course, they have an extensive menu, great staff, food, and atmosphere, but I think there needs to be refinement in some capacity in order to make a greater impact.

We normally enjoy coming here but on this particular night our server was moody and gave poor service the food was a little cold and not seasoned right. We have had him the last 2 times coming and if we get him again I'll request another guy or leave.

I use to frequent this restaurant often, with that said I stopped going here after I saw the health score of a 67. The prices went up portions went down and the dish I would get every time for over a year had shrimp and they removed it from my dish because of price increases. They increased my dinner price but removed things I usually got. Also you never know when the air is working and so you burn up and getting questions over our bill when you get ready to pay almost every time like you were stealing something was frustrating. We won’t be going back to Don Alejo. If you want better food, better atmosphere and better service then go to Julia’s it’s about 2 minutes away from Don Alejo. Julia’s is the best Mexican restaurant in Hartselle. So hit up Julia’s you won’t be disappointed. Ask for Lesi or Chewy they are my favorite waiters there I have followed them for years unintentionally. Also I think Kylie from Don Alejo’s should join Julia’s she was my favorite there

Americanized. The only thing mexican was the menu. Red sauce was catsup. The Chili reino was a bell pepper filled with refried beans and cheese. Our food was served room temp. The waiter was preoccupied with friends at the other tables so chips and salsa wasn’t served until the food came out. The greeter was busy typing on her phone while we were there, probably posting good reviews?. At least the Dos XX was good.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately, the waitress had a terrible attitude right from the start. She repeatedly rolled her eyes while taking our order. We were looking forward to a peaceful meal after a long drive from Clearwater, Florida, but she made it frustrating and awkward. If she doesn't enjoy her job, she should consider a different career or at least stop treating customers with such disrespect.

The food was flavorful and done exactly how we wanted it. The waitress was excellent she was quick to fill our drinks and make sure we were satisfied. We really enjoyed our time and the enviroment was open and bright without being crowded

On this visit I was disappointed ☹️from walking in , guy at register , I thought asked how many , evidently not , because he got up from his seat and walked to podium to side, took his finger , and slid it across , Please wait to be seated! , I have never saw a restaurant act this rude , just so happens he sat me on other side of sign , I watched and listened as he was glad to seat men , I didn’t get waited on till almost 10 min later, I had to get up, I’ve reviewed them before 5 stars , but this was the rudest I’ve ever saw !
