The visit to Desert Mountain Dates made our trip. What a truly enchanting oasis Rick has built and grown. The work and commitment he has given his craft is admirable. We learned about the process to plant, tend, and harvest dates from Rick who is such a gracious host. We felt like cherished friends. The dates are over the top delicious. And those cute miniature horses. What a delight to see them and feed them. Such an enjoyable and educational visit. Don’t miss it! We’ll be back.

This place was amazing - the kids loved it. Rick was extremely informative, patient, good spirited, and great with the kids. We learned a ton and left with fantastic dates and pomegranates. There were horses and chickens. It’s not a commercial experience - but an independently run farm where the farmer gives the tours. I’ll come back again

Wonderful experience visiting Rick’s date farm. Perfect timing for date harvesting season early October. We got to learn how the date tree grow and fruit over the year, and taste fresh sweet date right off the tree. Thanks to Rick for his great hospitality!

What a fun personal tour with Rick at Desert Mountain Dates! He was super welcoming to us and made sure to show us all the sights of the ranch, including the miniature horses. We also learned a lot about all the work that goes into creating the perfect date.

AMAZING!!! Rick is the best!! Dates are delicious and Rick is so knowledgeable and funny and such a good time made our day and highly recommend. In a word: WOW! My husband and I were looking to take his parents on a little excursion somewhere nearby (but off the beaten path) while visiting Palm Desert. Boy did we get more than we bargained for! Not only did we get a fascinating (tasty!) tour of this private, sweet date farm, Rick, the owner, was kind enough to give us a great education on dates, date farming, the hyper-local impacts of climate change on the region -- and introduce us to his menagerie of rescue dogs, chickens, and miniature horses, y'all! BONUS! While the dates were the draw, Rick is the real highlight. His kindness, knowledge, generosity, and good humor were the highlight. HIGHLY recommend. And he sells dates on site! Take the time and make the trek to have this unique experience.

Our family found the date farm online and decided to go visit. We happened to just arrive as the owner of the farm Rick was beginning a tour. He toured us around the farm and gave great information about the farm and growing dates all while snacking on dates as we went along. Who could ask for a better tour! Rick is gracious and a wonderful tour guide. Now let’s talk about the dates….delicious!!!! We bought 2 boxes. My husband LOVES dates and Rick made his day with all the samples. A must visit if you are in the area. Highlight of our day!!
