Chumash Casino Resort - Santa Ynez, California

We drove up to the Chumach casino to see Gabriel “fluffy“ Iglesias. The show was very good and the sound system was good and clear. We had dinner at the sports bar, which was good and the desserts were very good. Our group had two kinds of burgers, orange chicken, on rice and a Caesar salad. It was very good, but the desserts were even better. The carrot cake was very good and the large warm brownie with coffee ice cream was incredible. The service was good and the prices were reasonable.||After dinner, we wondered around the casino a little bit, and it was quite busy. The place was really smoky, and our eyes were extremely irritated by the time we left after the show. There was a small room with a few slot machines that was not smoking. The parking was free, which was nice and the property was very clean except for the smoking issue. There were guards/security every 6 feet including 2 guards at the entrance door. I’m not sure why there’s so much more security here than at a Vegas hotel. ||My only personal complaint would be that it should be non-smoking like California law is and not ignore it just because it’s considered its own nation. Our dinner also did not have California sales tax but instead had some kind of reservation tax which I’m not sure exactly what that is. It was the first time we have been there since the place was nothing more than a small tent and I probably wouldn’t go back unless there was a really good act/ show I wanted to see.

Room was very nice and comfortable. I love there pillows. My wife utilized the buisbess center which was nice allowed her to do some work and while i played some slots turned $200 into $1300. Had breakfast at eggingtons realy good I definitely recommend. Overall I had a great time with my wife. Definitely going back.

It is a beautiful location and felt very luxurious, for a very reasonable price. The only complaint I have is that the sink water smelled heavily like plastic. Overall we had a great stay and I would highly recommend. Not too kid-friendly though... The spa and everything else was 21 plus but I guess that's what you get when you stay at a casino resort 🙂

I usually take my wife to Las Vegas for a little get away but this time I we tried Chumash Casino Resort and it was amazing.. I chose the King with a balcony and it was beautiful! The room was huge and we were treated like 5 stars throughout our stay. Definitely would rate this over staying at Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur or even MGM!

This review is mostly for the casino itself, did not stay in the hotel. I haven't been to Chumash casino in awhile so we decided to go one Saturday afternoon/eve. It has changed a lot, but not everything for the best.

Get ready to battle the smoke! It is pretty bad here. There are pockets of areas where they try and filter it out, but you will leave there, eyes burning, smelling like a dirty ashtray.

We had fun, lost money, but it was good entertainment. I don't play here enough to see if the odds of winning are worse than say Vegas, given the comments stating such by others, but they have a good selection of games. We ate at the new Sports Bar restaurant(s), separate review for that.

The bad, besides the smoky atmosphere, was that there were MANY slot machines that were 1. finicky, as in your player's card and/or money certificates would not register, maybe after the 10th time of putting it in the machine. 2. lots ...LOTS...of broken/out of service machines and 3. lots of working but broken, as in some of the buttons missing, like someone pounded the sh*t our of them, slots. Kind of disappointing.

Lastly, I will add, saw a few people taking drink orders, they all looked stressed, not happy like in Vegas. However, not one of them approached us and kept moving so fast I could not get their attention. We were there for a number of hours. Overall, I would say they have their money sunk in the hotel and new sports bar, and little else in the rest of the casino experience.

The renovated rooms are nice and spacious and good value for the money. The casino is awful - far too smoky and dirty ashtrays all over the place. No option for non-smoking gaming. We would have liked to spend some time there, but unfortunately will never return.

The room was very clean, plenty of towels, especially loved the shower mat. The view was amazing. I appreciated the water in the room to take medication and the open fridge because I had medication that required being in the fridge
What would be nice if you included a coffee pot for hot water. The staff was friendly from the outside to the inside. I would highly recommend Chumash Casino Resort. Thank you.

Very nice place. I love their motto “Welcome to Freedom!” It’s cool seeing that when you pull up on the property. World class facility in an area with stunning scenery and beautiful geography.
