Captain Porky's - Just Okay for a Pricey Boil ⭐️⭐️

Captain Porky's offers a substantial seafood boil with a good variety of shellfish including king crab, snow crab, crawfish, shrimp, and lobster, accompanied by the usual potatoes, corn, cornbread, and potato salad. The seafood quality itself seemed to be fresh, which is a definite plus.
However, the "Cajun boil" aspect felt more like a light seasoning sprinkle than the robust flavor profile one expects from a true boil. For a party of four, the bill exceeding $210 felt steep for what was ultimately just an okay meal.
Service was a bit lacking in attentiveness. The cornbread arrived cold, and the significant oversight of providing only one crab cracker and no proper utensils (beyond flimsy plastic forks) for a messy crab boil was frustrating. We had to repeatedly ask for additional crackers, which should have been standard.
While the company (my wife and two sons) made the experience enjoyable, the overall value for money at Captain Porky's wasn't great. It's an okay option if you're craving a seafood boil and willing to pay a premium, but don't expect an authentic, well-executed Cajun experience or seamless service.

After a naval graduation, we needed food, and this restaurant delivered! Great food, friendly staff, and excellent service made it a perfect spot to dine in and celebrate. Highly recommend! Don’t forget to grab dessert Oreo cheesecake.

The food and service is phenomenal. After years of exceptional dining here (and hard to find cuisine to the area) Captain Porky’s is above and beyond 5 stars. The family owned restaurant is inviting, clean, and overall a great place for a casual bite or convenient takeout. They really go above and beyond when it comes to delicious food and customer satisfaction.

I had high expectations based on all the positive reviews. Worst cornbread and greens I’ve ever had. If you’ve had quality greens and cornbread, you will not enjoy theirs. The bbq ribs were pretty good, but it was served cold. Sausage was cold too. Sauce was cold. I was so excited to check this place out. Glad I did, and I ain’t coming back.

Love this place greens were not as hot as I'd like, but they were still good! The stuffed shrimp was delicious. The corn bread was good, too! No complaints here. Staff was quick to take orders and there was room to sit which was great for a Sunday morning

We accidentally found this place, but glad we did. We tried their chicken nuggets and fries, the clams sandwich, the clam chowder (it was a bit thin but stilll good, the bread pudding dessert (this was yummy). This place offers quick service, is close to the interstate, limited seating. Would highly recommend this restaurant .

Always friendly people when I stop here to eat or pick up food. No exceptions this time. They have many selections to choose from including posted specials. I ordered food, sat down and everything came out pretty quickly. Great portions and very good tasting. There were a few overcooked sides mixed in with the fresh tasting ones - only reason for the 4 stars.

UPDATE - Brought my Son-In-Law here for his birthday and everything was perfect! When we were looking at what to order, the couple next to us let us know what they were enjoying. The Staff asked if we had any questions and were very helpful with the large - confusing! - order that we were putting in. We wanted to try different things since it was his first time eating here. When we were just about done talking and eating, a couple came in and asked us what we liked here. Easy answer - everything! Stop in to eat and enjoy the atmosphere. Or, call in your order and pick it up. Either way, you're doing great!

Great little place that is connected to another sitdown restaurant The Shanty, which it should be noted has the entrance located to the rear of the building near the nature preserve. Pockets has all wooden furnishings like a good BBQ place or wharf eatery. I wished more of the tables where benches with backs though as many were either bench without back support or chair as i think there was a side room with some chair seating. May want to try the shanty if you need back support or to stay longer. I had the ribs which on a continuum I'd rate a 7 out of 10 tasty with meat falling off bone. My father had shrimp deep fried with crab meat inside and it was tasty, similar to stuffing with a hint of spice. The coleslaw was alright and prices reasonable. We also got a side of onion rings which were not greasy nor overly flakes, but just right. One suggestion I have for the place is that when a side of dinner roll is chosen butter and a plastic knife be given with the meal. Also, it may be good to help the environment by not using Styrofoam boxes... otherwise keep doing what you're doing.
