The Menominee Tribe once covered just under 10 million acres across Wisconsin reaching Upper Michigan. This river is extremely important to the culture and history. To ruin such an important and RICH history is just baffling to me. This river was incredibly important to the people living here before the white man. Important to the NATIVES. Still is incredibly important to the tribe today.
The Menominee Nation is steadfast in its opposition to the proposed mine and its commitment to preserving the Menominee River. We ask you to stand in solidarity with us as we continue our fight to protect our place of origin, our sacred sites, the wildlife, water and environment for future generations.

Canadian mining company will bring majority of their own workers. Destroy our river in a few years and leave. This is not something we as Americans should get behind. There has never been a sulfide mine that has not polluted nearby water resources. Pollution from sulfide mining is very expensive to fix, and a burden for taxpayers.

The negatives from this mine will far outweigh the positives. In a way this can be compared to Brazil's burning of the Amazon Rainforest. Michigan, like Brazil, has chosen economics over our health and the environment. It is very disappointing to know that soon waste will enter the Menominee River and Lake Michigan poisoning wildlife, our water, etc. And all for money. Pure Michigan needs Pure Water. It is sickening that the government has chosen this and that nothing will be able to stop it.

The positive impact the mine will have on the local economy is without a doubt one of, if not the very best thing to happen to our area in a very long time. The company has done extensive research on the environmental factors the mine may influence. My theory is this, in todays age people are technology driven. From your car to your phone even the medical devices you rely on at the hospital metal's are required. Michigan has some of the most stringent mining and water quality laws in the entire world. Mines are going to happen whether an individual likes it or not. If you truly are an environmentalist you should be for michigan mining.

Jobs will only last so long, then we will be stuck with a polluted river, polluted waste land. People, open your eyes. Make your life worth something. Even if you have to work sone place else you WILL at least have our beautiful countryside and river and fresh air to come back to.

Can't wait to take my mom to future cancer appointments. Property values will crash, population will further decline, and Marinette/Menominee will become the next Flint....but we need the jobs but nobody knows how many locals will benefit. This is classic colonialism.

This company is planning to mine sulfate on the banks of the Menominee River in Michigan, which will violate the water quality, ecological integrity, and cultural and moral values to the indigenous culture of the Great Lakes.

To the owner of the mine. I don’t live far away from that sulfide mine if it does go in I’ll invite you and your family over to bath and drink the water at my house. We will see if you take me up on that offer. How about u set up a mine where you live or are you scared? What should you be scared of? It’s only water RIGHT!!
