Not every contractor, laborer or worker is corrupt as stated on this sight. The Arkansas Contractor Licensing Board does have helpful friendly staff at the front BUT the hearings are designed to be bias and in my opinion are not constitutional. Board members that are not judges and mainly not attorneys conduct the hearings and make decisions of law without proper legal procedure and the contractor has no rights. I dont see how any HONEST, hardworking contractor, laborer, employee, or any type of worker in the state of Arkansas can make a living. . They unfairly past down fines and decisions that ruin people’s lives with only their narrative and the Board’s statements not factually based because the person they go after has no rights and are not allowed to present proof or any evidence. This Board needs to be investigated and hearings need to be held by the court not these members. Im so disappointed that rhe State of Arkansas is allowing this to go on in 2025. Thats my first hand knowledge and opinion. I encourage anyone complaining on here to go see a hearing and then give an opinion about the parties involved. I think everyone would be shocked at the abuse of power.

The office is very efficient and helpful when trying to apply for the contractor license. I applied for a commercial license for roofing and they were very informative and communicative the entire time to make sure I had everything I needed. Shelly Gross over there got in touch with me when I was missing paperwork so it wouldn’t delay the issuing of the license. Also, I had made a mistake on my first residential license which made it look like I was trying to mislead them, but they were understanding that it was a mistake and did not try to delay or hold back issuing the license. I’ve worked in other states and dealt with other contractor boards and they are WAY more efficient than other places around the US.

this board only works to protect contractors. When you apply, they wait for years without making a decision, and at this stage, they prevent the problems of the buyers from solving. As they do not respond to the applications, the warranty period expires and the contractors are freed from sanctions. I guess the contractors are protected because they pay to the board. This board does not fulfill its main duty of protecting the customer and therefore the customers suffer.

Why do you think there are so many crooked contractors in Arkansas ? It's because of these people. I waited 3 years to even get a decision . They said take it to civil court. They are no better than the creeps they license. Do yourself a favor. Hire a lawyer or take matters in your own hand.if you have trouble with a contractor , don't think these people will even help.

I filed a complaint against a contractor in 1/21 and as of this writing of 6/22, after speaking with Jimmy Thomas, Greg Crow and Michael Langley after many promises I have not received a formal or informal response. I have lost thousands of dollars and no action that I am aware of has occurred. Very disappointed based on the objectives mentioned on the site for the agency.

Very poor rating for the service provided.

Not really sure why there are negative reviews here. Every single time I have called, doesn't matter who answers my call, they have been extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for helping me with my license!
