I toured the facilities here in Arcata, looking for a processing center that would meet my needs in a modern, clean, and well maintained environment.

Mad River Farm Kitchen, a brand with products that I'm familiar with and fond of, presented with just such a commercial environment. Large, hallways to accommodate cartage in a clean building, larger heavy doors, and excellent climate control. There was a neighbor across the hall with exposed meat products who leaves the doors of their kitchen wide open to the environment of the rest of the building, which isn't good at all, but they're not immediately adjacent to Mad River's kitchen facilities where they prepare jams and preserves, and they do keep their doors sealed from the hallway.

I bought their jam in one of the Eureka Natural Food stores. I liked it so thought that I'd go to their shop in Arcata. This was maybe 3 years ago. I don't think I bought anything as they really weren't set up for Pick up...or perhaps they were out of what I wanted. I went back to the supermarket & bought there.

Covid is eliminated my business travel so I had to order online.
It went smoothly. I had to pay shipping but at least I got their good jam.
They shipped fast even though they were temporarily out.

It needs to be pointed out that I know UPS to be negligent. You can put fragile (they didn't) on the box/ UPS doesn't care or notice. Their conveyer belts bounce things around. These people know this & are prepared. Each of 12 jars was individually bubble wrapped. Then the entire inside was surrounded with a stable spongy popcorn (not the Styrofoam which makes a mess).

They also emailed me personally that the order was going to be a week late. Then they emailed me that shipped it.

These are the kind of people I like to do biz with.

Oh, their jam is tasty. No chemicals or preservatives.
