This is not a positive review and I wanted it to be! I bought these blackberries in May and now it’s August. I planted the plugs in 4” containers and watered them and had them in a strawberry stackable container. I felt this was safer than sticking in them in the ground right away and having bunnies or deer eat them. They all looked dead in less than a week! I was horrified! I wrote asking for help and have never received a response. I’m not sure if this is a gimmick or what I did wrong. I left them under my tree in partial shade and the only water they received since was from the rain. It has taken this long for green leaves to return. They sent 11 and I only have 10 left which is what I bought. So far, it has been a disappointing experience. I’ve bought 10 1-gallon blackberries from another vendor and they were bigger and stronger and thriving for the same price. I’m getting ready to place all my blackberries into the ground with trellises. If they really do produce great amounts of blackberries, I’d like to write a glorious review. Here’s a photo I just took of some trying to make a comeback.

I am from central Kansas where it is hard to find locally grown fresh fruit. I was encouraged to try Doyle's blackberries from a friend that grew up in the burns Indiana area. I planted eight bushes 2013 and I started getting a few berries the following year. By the forth year I had 40 gallons harvest. We sold the property so I started over. I did a better job of preparing the soil in advance of planting. The first harvest of 6 bushes was 7 gallons. The next year it more then tripled. I haven't reached the 10 gallon per bush yet but in our hot summers that will be difficult to achieve. We have a lot of wild blackberries close by but I have a lot requests to pick mine with out thorns and bigger berries. I have been very pleased .

Fantastic product! I purchased 5 starts and all were easily established along a fence line in Zone 7a. The first year was all vegetative growth as expected but every year since they've easily produced a carton of berries per day while in season. Plants AND fruit are pest, mold, disease resistant and the lack of thorns makes harvesting a breeze. The kids love going out with a bowl and eating right from the vine. I couldn't have been happier with this purchase and would definitely buy again when it's time to get some started on a new property!

Bought two slips a few months back shipped a long way. Arrived looking good. Potted one and the other planted in the yard. They are both doing well. Will need to wait 1-2 years for fruit. No thorns! The potted plant really likes miracle gro!

I ordered three Doyle's blacberry bushes last year. They were tiny small plants, and one was even smaller than the two other - it looked almost dead, but when I looked closely, it had a couple of tiny small leaves. I did not fret, knowing there was a warranty. (The key word is patience, when ordeing plants this way, but I believe the reward with Doyle's berry bushes will be great.)
I planted the plants as instructed, nurtured them, and sure enough, all plants were alive, and started to grow! As expected, they did not produce any berries the first year. The fall came, and with it our move to another property, and of course Doyle's blackberry bushes moved with us! They were in big pots in our shop over the winter, and when it was warm emough, I planted them at their new new spots. All three bushes are growing well, but possibly due to the move and my too heavy pruning, we only got very little harvest this year. (And of course it takes a couple of years or three before most berry bushes and fruit trees start producing anyway.)
From the start, I have got very good advise from Tom Doyle - and he is always very easy to get hold of.
Doyle's blackberry bushes seem to be extremely tolerant to all kinds of weather. This summer, we have had over 100 Fahrenheit for weeks, and despite me almost not watering the bushes, they are doing fine.
Looking forward to delicious and hopefully good harvest already next year! My trellis system will probably not be able to carry the load next year or the year after. ?

Im really not sure blackberries will grow in coastal Alaska without lots of help. My 5 plants from Mr Doyle survived the coldest summer in my 72 yrs and maybe they will outlive the winter. Either way/ the plants I received were healthy and stayed that way and I tried not to mess with them. Mr Doyle can’t guarantee success but he will send you plants that are really off to a great start.

My plants are new as of this year so haven't started bearing yet but they are doing well and thriving. I love that you have a guarantee on any young plants that happen not to make it for any reason. I am very excited about the future of these bushes. August: These plants have started bearing huge blackberries on the canes that grew just this year. The berries are delicious and I am thrilled with the success of these new plants.

I have 3 bushes and Picked 40 lbs of nice berries this year.This does not count what my neighbors picked or the lower fruit which the dog eats. I do have irrigation which seems to make the berries more plump. My soil is mostly sand with grass clippings mulch.
