We rented a couple e-bikes for the weekend during a family trip to Marquette. There were no rental cars available so we figured this was the next best option, but it was so much better than having a car. They were more affordable, let us spend more time outside, and let us experience the town more intimately. Marquette is the perfect size to get pretty much anywhere on an e-bike. The battery easily lasts all day, we were able to keep the bikes in our hotel room each night, and the bike with the long seat actually allows two adults to sit on it, so we were able to let a friend hop on from time to time. Everett at Bates Bikes was awesome to work with. He was flexible, accommodating, had great inventory (even at the last minute), and even offered to pick our bikes up from our hotel at the end of our trip. We’ve become believers in both e-bikes and Bates Bikes through this experience and will definitely be back the next time we’re in town!

Incredible ebike experience, awesome staff great prices, a MUST in my opinion if visiting Marquette. Do yourself a favor: rent an ebikes for 2+ hours, drive to Presque Isle Park, smile, wave to people, enjoy life.

Renting an e-bike is easy and a must do activity while visiting Marquette. In 2 hours we enjoyed seeing the shoreline and gorgeous Lake Superior. The bikes have baskets so pack a picnic and soak up the views at Presque Isle Park. The staff was so kind and helpful getting our bikes set up and ready to roll.

The owner of Bates bikes was very friendly and made us feel confident and comfortable renting from him. Rates to rent were very reasonable. We took our girls, ages 14 and 17, on the Iron Ore Heritage Trail which was a quick and easy ride from the bike shop. We all really enjoyed riding these bikes and would definitely recommend ebikes on this trail, as there was a slight incline going out-coming back we hardly had to pedal! We’d definitely rent from Bates Bikes again!
