Great location, good food, and a great view.
The fish and chips were pretty good, the fish was slightly greasy/oily, but it tasted quite good. BLT had plenty of bacon which was really nice to see. Assad was very friendly and attentive. Worth a try!

The food came out very quick. The French onion soup was superb! Had the whitefish fried and it was fantastic. My wife had the cod and enjoyed it. I thought the prices were very reasonable. The only thing that could have been better was that the baked potato was small and part of it was not done. Enjoyed the overall experience and loved the old building.

This is absolutely the place to go if you’re visiting Marquette. Recommended by all the locals as an experience spot, it truly is in the view from the restaurant. That said:

Upon arrival, I was walked past by the hostess without being greeted several times. Another party that came after me was attempted to be seated before I let her know I was ready to be seated. When I asked to sit near the windows with a view, I was asked how many people were in my party—I answered just myself—and then was asked if I had a reservation—I said no. She then declined to seat me in the upper area with a view without explanation. It was super off-putting. When I asked her if I needed a reservation to sit up there she said no, and then immediately started with a condescending attitude while I kindly and patiently asked several questions—because I WANTED to sit with a view and NEEDED the information so I could return another time and get it. After several attempts to get the answer that you do NOT need a reservation and that the area was just full with already made reservations, I accepted a seat available—with the intention to return on another day to get the view and an alternate menu item that is highly recommended (the Whitefish Bites appetizer). The hostess rolled her eyes at me as she walked away—I saw though I’m sure she didn’t think I would.

My server Marissa came to my table shortly after being seated and she patiently described the differences in the style of each whitefish entree as well as the special option of such. She was exceptionally friendly, attentive during my visit, and checked back to make sure everything was to my liking—this is service!

The food:

I ordered the whitefish picatta with a baked potato (green beans come with the meal). The baked potato was perfectly baked—not overdone like many restaurants and not underdone. It would have been nice if I didn’t have to open tiny individual packages of butter that came swimming in the butter sauce from the fish—that was messy. That little thing could easily be avoided by serving butter in the same small container that serves the sour cream. The green beans were obviously fresh, but overcooked (but not completely soggy). The whitefish was good. It appeared that I was served a smaller serving than other reviews, but it was actually the perfect amount of fish for me—still a lot of fish—I ate it all. The capers were perfect on it, two lemon wedges would have made it perfect (it was served with one).

Overall, it was a good dinner with a fair price point for both the VERY FRESH fish and the mediocre rest of the presentation of food. I would say definitely DO go but make a reservation so you can get the view along with the fresh fish!

It's 'well earned' reputation for the best whitefish is absolutely deserved. It does struggle to figure out if it is a bar or fine dining place. The prices are a bit high to serve paper napkins in the dining room. But the location is great and the view is not to be missed. The service is polite. It is a must stop place in Marquette and deservedly earned.

We took the white fish with three sides, the blueberry beer and the cheesecake. Simply delicious! The waitresses were very very nice. It was super busy at the beginning and we had to wait to be seated even though we had the reservation. And to get anything it was quite hard because the ladies were always running!! We spent around 45$.not bad at all! I would highly recommend this place!!!

Tried to go here one night and it was packed at around 6:30, so I made reservations the next night for 7:45. Making reservations was the better choice.

Boyfriend got a blueberry beer which was lacking blueberry flavor. When it comes it has blueberries in it, which was nice but compared to another blueberry beer we had the night before at a different restaurant it was less than.

My boyfriend ordered the whitefish scampi style and he said it was fantastic. We got spinach artichoke dip to start. And he dip was good but not very warm and I was not a fan of the bagged chips they used.

I got the Hawaiian pizza and it was really good. A silly thing to not like, but it was a lot of bacon and not enough pineapple to offset that salt and fat from the bacon. It was a very large portion and could easily be shared.

We got the last slice of blueberry cheesecake and honestly it had so much potential to be better than it was. It was basic cheesecake with a few blueberries inside it.

I recently visited the Vierling Restaurant at 119 S Front St, in Marquette, MI. I went there for dinner and that night it happened to be very busy and I had to wait. No big deal. I got a seat at.tjw bar and the bartenders were very helpful with my drinks and food.order. My whitefish chowder was delicious as well as my Parmesan crusted chicken. The bar and interior of the restaurant is beautiful,.kind of a late 1800's feel. Worth a visit.

Perfect spot. In the heart of downtown Marquette. Close to the pier and nice tourist attractions. The grilled chicken and caprese pizza are so excellent and tasteful. Our waitress was very kind. The food took a little bit longer than expected to come out but definitely worth the wait. The bathrooms are clean and so are the tables and everything else in the restaurant. They have a wide variety of items in their menu we wanted to try but couldn’t. There’s a lot of parking spots nearby and it’s kind of small inside but manageable for those in a wheelchair. Prices are very fair. The interior of the place was so cozy and gave a authentic small town vibe.
