Not sure what everyone is complaining about but I bought some of the recommended smoked salmon packets for a friend at home who LOVES them. The gentleman that helped me couldn't have been more friendly and we sat down and chatted for 30 minutes or so since he wasn't too busy. I would shop there again in a heart beat.

BEST SALMON IN THE WORLD!! Ms.Laura is super nice and helpful she is such a nice and sweet person . She helped us with tours and with salmon facts. She is the best. If I ever come to ALSAKA I am definitely coming back here!!

We wanted to stop at this shop on the way back to inquire about shipping salmon back home. As we walked in, this lady pointed to my husband's shopping bag and rudely asked us, "Are you brunching?" I said," Excuse me, what does that mean. She said, "It's when you go around the shops to taste test, we usually tell those people to go eat at a restaurant."

My mind was blown that we were treated this way. My husband didn't hear her response as he was busy trying to find the rate to ship fresh salmon back home. It took me a few minutes to process the situation and how rude this lady was. I told my husband to leave, and we took our business elsewhere. I can not believe that the owner or worker would greet any customers this way.

Canned smoked salmon is absolutely horrible. It is either lightly cold smoked or not smoked at all. In other words, it's essentially raw. The texture is like a cheap grade of canned tuna, its mushy and like a paste, not firm and in chunks like smoked salmon should be. On top of that its extremely salty. Look elsewhere if you want good Alaskan salmon.

One star rating is too high!! Customer service is atrocious! First, off ship shopping in port, went into store, placed order. At that time they said they’d ship. Box was received, and eaten by recipients. That is how we found out the box sent to our family was shipped incorrectly. I called & spoke with store associate & they assured us they would send out correct order. After weeks of waiting still no correct order was sent. Spoke with LILA who lied about leaving message for how it would be reconciled. No message ever received! Her way of handling situation was to charge the difference due to fact that what was originally sent was more expensive, so she said. Or, we could send back the first order & theyd send the original order. At that time I told her it was already eaten & how much was the difference needed to pay for items not received . She was unsure of order so how did she know the amount was more? Also when asked if she would be able to send the missing dog treats her answer was they were gone so she wouldn’t be able to. If that was the case how then LILA COULD YOU HAVE SENT THE ORIGINAL ORDER. The mistake that was made by the incompetence of store shipping. Not the customers fault!!Poor, poor customer service and lack of intelligence by Lila. She explained they’ve been in business for 38 years, who cares when your doing business in the manner you are I’ve read all the other bad reviews & you’re lucky if you make it to 39 years. I hope this is seen by others and they carefully consider any purchases!! Lila you are a joke!

Ordered 2 pounds of WHITE King Salmon, got Red King, they played dumb saying, " it just says King Salmon on the order" Well, that's their fault. No resolution other than, "Oh Well"
$106/lb was the cost, for a total of $212 shipped.

BUYER BEWARE!!! SCAM BUSINESS AND WOULDN'T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T BUY ANYTHING IN KETCHIKAN!!

I do not know about the negative comments, but just left there in May, 2019 and found the young lady staff person to be most helpful and patient and friendly. The items we purchased were shipped to Nevada so fast that they came one day after we returned home. I had some items shipped to family members in other states and the items arrived promptly as well. This means that they sent the order out the same or next day. I found their prices reasonable. When the salmon are in season they will ship overnight so that you have salmon that was swimming in the ocean the day before. Can't beat that! Will be returning next year on cruise and will definitely purchase from this store again.

The best place in town for locally sourced salmon! The cost might be higher than some other cannery fish but Steve’s has the richest, freshest, tastiest sockeye ever ,of anyone’s anywhere. The silver, king , pink, all delicious! Pull a section out of the can and wow! Look at that whole fillet stuffed in there. Not like nasty little pieces you will see at your local grocery store, this stuff reeks of real, honest to goodness Alaska in a can. Steve is a great local guy, it’s a long time family business and it is simply the best!
