Kudos to Ken! Went above and beyond on saving us money on our purchase on house recently. Give this guy a chance to do the same if in need, he is honest, friendly and offers solutions that save you money and does the job promised....always a fast response when called....saved us money by not purchasing a system another company said we needed at double the price, glad we saw his name on place mat at Shakers!!... thankful he is the new owner, so again, if in need, give this new owner a chance to impress you!

I was having a problem with hard water clogging up my on demand water heater. It had gotten to the point that one morning I had no hot water coming out of the faucet. I called a plumber who flushed the water heater, which gave me hot water but showers went from too hot to too cold repeatedly for the whole shower. I was having to flush the water heater on a monthly basis.

At the suggestion of a friend, I called Ken at Great Lakes Softwater II. He came out the next day to test my water. The hardness number was 14. He came back to install a water softener, and got the number to 0.

Now he delivers salt and fills the storage receptacle whenever it gets low, and I call him. Both he and his wife are friendly, honest people. We are very happy with them and the water softener.

BTW, the water has stayed at one temperature all the way through every shower since the water softener has been installed. Water pressure has increased in the bathroom sink, and the water heater hasn't needed flushing since.

I highly recommend you call Ken if you are having trouble with hard water.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Softener was purchased 3.5ish years ago for our cabin.. it stopped working after a year! What I thought was a deal, was a scam! I was told if I paid cash instead of credit, he'd give me $300 off, so of course, I paid cash! Worked fine for a few months but the water was getting rusty again, even though we had salt. Larry came to fix it, it worked but again same issue just a week later. When I called the office, there was never an answer. I left several messages. I never received a call back. Finally we took the loss and had Culligan put a new softener in. Works amazing & it didn't matter how I paid. I heard from a good friend of mine that there was new owners, Ken Sheldon and Ron Shele (which both left positive reviews on their own business) so i thought I'd give them a call for salt delivery while we were up for this last week BUT NO ANSWER, AFTER SEVERAL CALLS. Imagine that. I will not waste my time again. It's easier and cheaper to go to Wal-Mart or Home Depot. Not a good way to run a business.

I bought a house on Houghton Lake with TERRIBLE water. Took it to Raven test lab in Roscommon where they had to dilute it twice to be able to measure how bad. Ken spoke with his equipment factory reps to ensure he could solve my problems. I now have beautiful clear water. For those who like the numbers, here's the results from Raven test lab before and after: Hardness was 28 grains, now zero. Iron was 15.8 ppm it's now .24. Tannin was 4.4 ppm. Didn't test it, because water is perfectly clear. Give Ken a call, get it done right the first time!

WE HAD WATER THAT WE WOULD NOT LET ANY ONE DRINK, TOILETS LOOKED GROSS FROM THE RUST, AND SMELLY (SULFER). KEN CAME OUT TESTED THE WATER SAID WE HAVE A SOLUTION AVAILABLE AND WE DECIDED TO MOVE FORWARD....GREAT EXPERIENCE AND EVEN BETTER WATER. THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GREAT SERVICE!!
