I brought my deer into Shagena due to the heat & warm weather and was very impressed by the phenomenal job and attention to detail! The cuts are quality and clean as well as commercially vacuum sealed. They aren't cheap, but you get what you pay for, and I would recommend them to anyone in Mid-Michigan.

I was hunting in Clare. Didn't want to drive my deer back home with the warm weather and no cooler to put it in. I asked around and Shagena's was recommended by the local hunters. I stopped in, met the owner John. Great guy. Very personable, friendly, and obviously knows what he's doing. He let me sample a few different flavors of sausage as well. I'm excited to get my venison back.

From the time I called John was very easy to talk to and really knows what he is doing! Let us try some sausage and was very professional. My deer was processed within 2 weeks and he vacuum seals all the meat which I really like! Also like that this is a 4h family! Thank you John. Will be back this fall!

Great place to have your deer processed. Open on Sundays. Perhaps the cleanest facility I have ever used. Our vacuum packaged venison burger, is always still good well into year 2.

I have been taking my deer to Shagenas for years. John and his family are wonderful people and provide top notch service. Their butchering is without equal. I particularly enjoy the 2 1/2 salami and the baby maple breakfast links.
You are treated as friends when you walk in the door.

Great company. Just had our first deer processed through these guys. Summer sausage is amazing!! Not going to be the cheapest place you will find but I can assure you that you get what you pay for. All vacuum sealed too!! See you guys again next season!!

Just had our deer done for the first time with Shagena Meat Processing and we are happy to say they have earned themselves another customer for life. Very pleased with the venison burger and sausage, some of the best in Michigan by far.

I always process my own deer. I shot nice buck in which I wanted to have mounted, and since I was going to be out of town and busy with work, I took my my deer in here due to recommendation by others. Starting with the positives, they do a good job with processing. However, it is on the higher end as far as price goes. 95 dollars for basic hamburger and steaks. I wanted my cape saved and the owner told me it would be no problem. However, he never verbally told me that would be an additional 45 dollars. I have taken deer into a processor maybe 3 times in my life, all of which I asked for capes back. I have never paid to have a deer caped. Since I was out of town, I had someone pick it up for me in which they said my bill totaled 140 dollars. When I called back to discuss my bill, the owner told me it said right on the board that is was 45 dollars for the cape back. Even though it was not verbalized to me, I received no compensation. I probably should have read the board more thoroughly but I would have expected him to bring up the cost with the discussion of wanting my deer caped. My recommendation is driving 25 minutes to Gladwin and getting it done at Lambert's Meat Market where they get 65 dollars for the basics. I would have taken it there if I hadn't receive good reviews about Shagena's. If I ever need a deer processed again, they will not get my business
