I bought this trailer probably 4 or 5 years ago .. they have the best customer support ! Last year the 7.5' ramps cracked and they replaced them at no cost to me ... last week the door locks fell apart and they replaced them no cost to me. I just sent them these pictures and today I got new ones .. hillsboro trailers rock !!

The bed is not even two years old and they would not warranty their product

Product: 2013 GII steel bed.
Summary: I would not buy one again.

The good: The GII bed has nice fold-up sides that latch securely. The material thickness is adequate. Wiring is holding up nicely. Good welds. The serial number was welded to the frame in case the decal fell off.

The bad: Paint and coating. The truck body (2013 Silverado) has 91,000 miles on it and shows hardly a spec of rust. The Hillsboro bed has holes rusted through it. Toolboxes are rusted as well. Rust covers most surfaces. One assumes that the truck and bed have experienced similar conditions over the last 7 years. I'd expect the bed to outlast the truck body. Not the case here. The coating thickness seems to be lacking and in some areas I wonder if primer was even used.

The steel alloy used may be suspect as well. I've never seen steel flake off like it is on my Hillsboro bed.

Solution: I ended up spending a month of evenings and weekends to wire wheel, chisel, and sandblast all surfaces after removing the bed from the truck chassis. I patched holes and recoated with a rust-inhibiting alkyd primer and two coats of alkyd paint. Hopefully I can get a few more years out of it.

Customer service: I emailed Hillsboro about this issue 42 days ago. Photos were included. No reply from them.

Conclusion: The lack of long-term corrosion resistance makes Hillsboro steel truck beds suitable for arid environments only.

I have a g2 bed on a 2000 f550 cab chassis truck has been on there for about 2.5 years and loved it the whole paint has held up great. Only thing I wish I could've changed was being able to afford the hybrid bed at the time. But this bed has great ever since install.

Sold a Featherlite trailer to buy a Hillsboro car hauler. Hillsboro has better quality and stronger construction. It has more features, such as longer, stronger loading ramps, special anti rattle ramp storage, high quality ramp doors and latches, and drop down loading support legs. I did my research, they make the best flat bed on the market.

I purchased a 12’ Hillsboro trailer and I couldn’t be happier with it. Its so easy to maneuver around by hand being that it’s made entirely from aluminum. The fenders are reinforced and extremely sturdy. I also appreciate the multitude of tie downs in the side rails. The front hitch is raised so it aligns perfectly with the hitch of a 1/2 ton pickup. There isn’t a better aluminum utility trailer on the market.
